All of us at the Panebianco Workers’ Compensation Law Firm in Fort Lauderdale would like to express our thanks to all of the essential workers who have been putting themselves on the line this year.
We are humbled by the way the healthcare professionals in our community have stepped up this year – and are continuing to step up as the pandemic stretches on – from the doctors and nurses on the frontlines of the battle against Covid-19 to the lab techs and cleaning crews at our area hospitals.
We are also thankful for the folks who are smiling behind their face masks when they bag up our groceries at Publix, the cashiers holding down the fort at area convenience stores and the army of delivery personnel who are bringing us dinner as well as boxes from Amazon and all the other online retailers we have been ordering from.
If you want to thank the essential workers who are showing up for all of us, United Way offers some suggestions:
- Send an email to Congress
“Show frontline workers you appreciate their work by helping them get the support they need,” the folks at United Way suggest. “During this time of uncertainty and economic crisis, many people, including those still working, need a boost to make ends meet. Vital services like 211, the Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit, and SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) can provide relief for frontline workers–and others–in need. You can ask your representative to increase funding for these services.”
- Put up a homemade sign up
As the folks at United Way point out, you can, “Make someone’s commute to work brighter by posting a sign in your window or front yard telling frontline workers how much they mean to our community.” If you have kids, they say this would be a great project for them to work.
If you would like to join with workers’ comp attorney Nick Panebianco and the staff of our Fort Lauderdale workers’ compensation law firm in showing your appreciation for South Florida’s essential workers, the best think to do might just be staying home.
